By the year 1918, David H. McConnell along with business-man Alexander D. Henderson, sold five million bottles of perfume in North America. The sales soared to an income of 2 million dollars and the name was changed to Avon Products, Inc. in October 1939. By 1954 sales reached an all time high of 55 million dollars and the slogan ” Avon Calling “, was born. In 1979 sales reached 3 Billion Dollars and today, sales exceed 10 Billion Dollars world wide. I believe it’s safe to say, Avon is still calling.

Their original 500 square foot office has been upgraded to a 100 million dollar, 225,000. square foot warehouse which was purchased in 2005. They have over 300 development and research scientists on the premises.

Avon, also participates in philanthropic issues and causes. They have founded a charity organization which focuses on improving the lives of women and their families. Although, Avon originally focused it’s products on manly women, nowadays, they offer many products to men and children as well. Other causes they endorse are breast cancer and domestic violence and they are very dedicated to these crusades.

The products include perfumes, make-up, bath accessories, lotions, anti-aging creams, jewelry and clothing. The Company’s line of products have expanded considerably since the early days of David H. McConnell’s door to door perfume sales.
